Applications
Used for tissue dissociation to detach adherent cells from culture surfaces. The required concentration of trypsin for cell dissociation mainly depends on the cell type and culture passage. Trypsin is also used for cell resuspension during cell culture processes, protein digestion in proteomics research, and various gel digestions. Other applications include evaluating crystallization through membrane-based techniques and determining protein folding rates and yields that may be limited by the presence of kinetic traps in a study.
For trypsin digestion of peptides, the trypsin-to-peptide ratio used is typically around 1:100 to 1:20.
Trypsin from porcine pancreas has been used for digestion of chicken bones. It is also used for the separation of granulosa cells in the corpus luteum.
