Cat. No.: TAEQD-100 (for 100×1L)
Description
TAE is a white quick-dissolve pellet. Each pouch of TAE quick-dissolve pellets can be used to prepare 1 L of 1× TAE buffer, making it easy and convenient to use. The main components of TAE buffer are Tris-acetate and EDTA-2Na. The concentration of Tris-acetate in 1× TAE buffer is 40 mM, and the concentration of EDTA-2Na is 1 mM.
TAE is a widely used nucleic acid electrophoresis buffer in biology, primarily for DNA agarose gel electrophoresis. When TAE is used as the electrophoresis buffer, double-stranded linear DNA fragments migrate relatively quickly. It is generally recommended to use TAE for electrophoretic separation when the fragments are larger than 13 kb. TAE is suitable for DNA fragment recovery, but due to its limited buffering capacity, it is not recommended for long-duration electrophoresis (e.g., overnight).
Components
TAE: 100 Pouches (100×1L)
Protocol
- Measure approximately 600 ml of distilled water and add it to a beaker. Place a magnetic stir bar inside the beaker.
- Position the beaker on a magnetic stirrer and slowly add the entire contents of one pouch of TAE quick-dissolve pellets. Stir the solution until it is completely dissolved.
- Add distilled water to the TAE solution from step 2, bringing it to a final volume of 1 L, making it 1× concentration.
Storage
Room temperature.
