Description
Red Dye for PAGE Stacking Gel (500X) is a dye used to prepare the upper stacking gel in red polyacrylamide gels. This red dye allows for clear visualization of protein sample wells, facilitating sample loading and making it easy to detect whether sample wells are distorted or damaged.
During electrophoresis, the red dye compresses and migrates downward until it reaches the bottom or runs off the gel. After electrophoresis, the red dye leaves minimal residue in the upper gel, with no adverse effects on processes such as electrophoresis, staining, or membrane transfer.
If the red dye does not run off the lower gel after electrophoresis, it can also be transferred along with proteins to imprint membranes such as PVDF or NC. This allows for indicating lane positions and facilitates membrane cutting procedures.
The upper gel is also known as concentrated gel, stacking gel, or stacking layer.
For a 1.0mm thick gel, approximately 2ml of the upper gel is required per gel. At this ratio, the red dye can be used to prepare approximately 250 gels per 1ml.
