Description
Mycoplasma Removal Agent Plus is a reagent used to inhibit and eliminate mycoplasma contamination, which is widespread in cultured cells. It can be used to remove existing mycoplasma contamination in cells and to prevent mycoplasma contamination.
This reagent can effectively inhibit and eliminate various mycoplasmas, including Mycoplasma orale, M. arginini, M. hyorhinis, and Acholeplasma laidlawii.
This reagent is a naturally derived antibiotic selected for its low concentration required to inhibit or eliminate mycoplasmas, and it is non-toxic to cells. Like penicillin and streptomycin commonly used in cell culture, it does not interfere with various routine cell assays.
It is easy to use; typically, adding this reagent to the cell culture medium for about a week can effectively inhibit or eliminate mycoplasmas.
It is cost-effective; the additional cost of adding this reagent to the culture medium per liter to prevent or inhibit mycoplasma growth is negligible compared to the cost of serum.
This reagent is white, soluble in water and ethanol.
The effective inhibitory concentration of this reagent is 0.01-0.2 μg/ml, and the effective concentration for eliminating mycoplasmas is 0.5-200 μg/ml, with the most commonly used concentration being 1-50 μg/ml. The specific working concentration varies depending on the type of mycoplasma, and the appropriate working concentration needs to be determined through experimentation when preventing or eliminating mycoplasma contamination.
A 10 mg package of this reagent can prepare 50 liters of working solution at 0.2 μg/ml, 500 ml of working solution at 20 μg/ml, or 200 ml of working solution at 50 μg/ml. A 50 mg package of this reagent can prepare 250 liters of working solution at 0.2 μg/ml, 2500 ml of working solution at 20 μg/ml, or 1000 ml of working solution at 50 μg/ml.
For a comparison and selection of our four types of mycoplasma prophylactic and elimination reagents, please refer to the table below:
Mycoplasma Removal Reagent and Mycoplasma Removal Reagent Plus are both single antibiotics in powder form. They are slightly inconvenient to use, but you can measure out small amounts according to your needs. If stored at -20°C, the powder products can last longer. Additionally, if resistance develops to a single antibiotic, it is relatively simple to switch to another antibiotic, which usually yields better results.
Mycoplasma Prophylactic and Elimination Reagent I and Mycoplasma Prophylactic and Elimination Reagent II are pre-prepared solutions, making them more convenient to use, but they must be stored at -20°C. Since these two reagents are combination antibiotics, they generally have a stronger effect in inhibiting or removing mycoplasma. However, if resistance develops, subsequent handling can be more troublesome, and it is more likely that mycoplasma resistance will persist even after switching to another prevention and removal reagent.
Storage
Store at 4°C, effective for one year. After preparing the solution, store at -20°C.
Precautions
- The Mycoplasma Removal Agent Plus is irritating to the human body. Please handle with care and use appropriate protection to avoid direct contact with the body or inhalation.
- This reagent can effectively inhibit or eliminate various mycoplasmas, but it cannot guarantee inhibition or elimination of all types of mycoplasmas encountered in actual experimental operations. Additionally, long-term use of this reagent may lead to the development of resistance in mycoplasmas. If the reagent is not effective, consider using our Mycoplasma Removal Agent.
- It is recommended to regularly test for mycoplasma using mycoplasma detection kits, such as our Luminescence Mycoplasma Detection Kit, Mycoplasma PCR Detection Kit, or Mycoplasma Staining Detection Kit.
- This product is for scientific research use by professionals only. It is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment, not for use in food or drugs, and should not be stored in ordinary residences.
- For your safety and health, please wear a lab coat and disposable gloves when handling.
