Description
MCA-AVLQSGFR-Lys(Dnp)-Lys-NH2 is a substrate for coronavirus Mpro/3CLpro, based on fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). After cleavage, this substrate releases the fluorescent group MCA (methylcoumarin), with a maximum excitation wavelength of 320 nm and maximum emission wavelength of 405 nm. By measuring fluorescence, Mpro activity can be detected. Since the COVID-19 pandemic at the end of 2019, this substrate has been widely used in screening kits for Mpro/3CLpro inhibitors or in detecting kits for Mpro/3CLpro protease activity of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
