Description
Mycoplasma is a diverse group of prokaryotic microorganisms that lack a cell wall and exhibit various morphologies. They are the smallest microorganisms currently known, with a small diameter. They belong to the class Mollicutes, characterized by the absence of a cell wall, which makes them unaffected by many commonly used antibacterial agents. Mycoplasma contamination is widespread in cell cultures. Due to their small size (approximately 0.3 - 0.8 μm), Mycoplasma contamination cannot be observed under an optical microscope, and the changes in growth rate and morphology of infected cell cultures are often minimal and inconspicuous. However, products contaminated with Mycoplasma pose a risk to human health. Routine Mycoplasma detection is essential for cell culture.
Advantages of LAMP Mycoplasma Detection Lyophilized Microbeads:
The amplification system is in lyophilized form, enabling transportation and storage at room temperature, allowing for on-demand testing at any time.
Results can be interpreted through both colorimetric and fluorescence detection, avoiding the complexities and potential contamination issues associated with traditional gel electrophoresis.
No complicated equipment or specific environmental requirements are needed. Common laboratory equipment such as water baths, metal baths, regular PCR machines, and fluorescence quantitative PCR machines can meet the testing requirements, enabling testing anywhere in the laboratory.
The assay can detect major contaminating subtypes of Mycoplasma commonly found in cell cultures, including Mycoplasma hyorhinis, Mycoplasma fermentans, Mycoplasma arginini, Mycoplasma orale, Mycoplasma hominis, Mycoplasma salivarium, Mycoplasma pirum, and Acholeplasma laidlawii, among others. In total, it can detect over 40 different subtypes of Mycoplasma.
Storage
Store at room temperature.
