Description

L-Rhamnose is a component of plant cell wall polysaccharides, rhamnogalacturonan I, and rhamnogalacturonan. It is also found in bacterial cell walls as a major antigenic determinant, contributing to pathogenicity. L-Rhamnose is not absorbed by the human body but can be fermented by gut microbiota. Supplementing with L-Rhamnose can slow gastric emptying. L-Rhamnose oligosaccharides can bind to immunogens and are used in cancer immunotherapy. Ingesting L-Rhamnose can increase serum propionate levels.
