HumanTriiodothyronine, BSA Conjugated (T3-BSA)
- Protein Type: Synthetic
Description
Triiodothyronine (T3) is a triiodinated tyrosine derivative. A small portion of T3 is directly secreted by the thyroid gland, while the majority is converted from thyroxine (T4) in peripheral tissues. Upon entering the bloodstream, a small fraction of T3 remains in a free state, known as free T3 (FT3), while the majority binds to thyroid-binding proteins. The total T3 (TT3) represents the sum of both free and bound forms. To measure TT3, the releasing agent 8-anilino-1-naphthalene sulfonic acid (ANS) is used to dissociate T3 from its binding proteins, converting it into free T3 for detection.
