HumanThyroxine, BSA Conjugated (T4-BSA)
- Protein Type: Synthetic
Description
Thyroxine (T4) is a tetraiodinated thyronine and a thyroid hormone secreted by the thyroid gland. Upon entering the bloodstream, a small portion of T4 remains in its free form, known as FT4, while the majority binds to thyroid-binding proteins. The total T4 (TT4) represents the combined concentration of both free and bound forms. To measure TT4, the releasing agent 8-anilino-1-naphthalenesulfonic acid (ANS) is used to dissociate T4 from its binding proteins, converting it into free T4 for detection.
