Description
The empty affinity chromatography columns are made of high-purity polypropylene material (the same material commonly used for EP tubes). The column body is 101mm in height and 22.5mm in inner diameter, with extremely low adsorption to various biomolecules. The sieve plates inside are made from high-purity ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) through a special process. These plates have low adsorption, are resistant to bubble formation, and have good hydrophilicity. They also have uniform pore size (about 50 microns), making them suitable for filling with various common affinity chromatography media such as Ni-NTA, Protein A agarose, Protein G agarose, and Protein A+G agarose. These columns are ideal for the separation and purification of proteins, antibodies, biotin or digoxin-labeled proteins or nucleic acids with different tags such as His-tag.
The appropriate pore size of the sieve plates ensures a flow rate of about 1-2 milliliters per minute or 1-2 drops per second during gravity-based affinity chromatography operations. It is also possible to connect a peristaltic pump to the lower end of the chromatography column to precisely control the flow rate. Usually, the affinity chromatography medium is filled between the two sieve plates.
