Description

DNA-Free E. coli DNA polymerase I is a DNA-dependent DNA polymerase from Escherichia coli, which exhibits 5´→3´ DNA polymerase activity as well as 3´→5´ and 5´→3´ exonuclease activities. The 5´→3´ exonuclease activity can digest the downstream 5’ nucleotides of the extending DNA strand, facilitating nick translation.

One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme required to incorporate 10 nmol dNTP into acid-insoluble material within 30 minutes at 37℃ in 1× E. coli DNA polymerase I reaction buffer.
