Description
DNA-Free Alkaline Phosphatase (TAB5) catalyzes the hydrolysis of phosphate monoesters but does not catalyze the hydrolysis of phosphate diesters or triesters. Alkaline Phosphatase (TAB5) is derived from psychrophilic bacteria, exhibiting high activity in the temperature range of 25-50℃. Due to its origin from psychrophilic bacteria, it has very low thermal stability and can be irreversibly inactivated by heat treatment at 65℃ for 15 minutes or 70℃ for 5 minutes.

Unit Definition
One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme required to dephosphorylate 1 μg of pUC19 DNA digested with HindIII (5' overhangs), EcoRV (blunt ends), or PstI (3' overhangs) within 30 minutes at 37℃. Dephosphorylation is confirmed by the inhibition of >95% DNA recircularization in a self-ligation reaction (assessed by transforming E. coli competent cells with the ligation products).
