Description

Chitinase 3-like protein 1 (CHI3L1) is a member of the glycohydrolase family. Although it can bind to chitin, it lacks chitinase enzymatic activity and plays a significant role in inflammation and tissue remodeling. CHI3L1 exhibits tissue-specific expression, with particularly high levels in the liver. Its expression is markedly elevated in conditions such as cirrhosis and liver fibrosis, making it a potential biomarker for assessing the severity of these conditions. The detection of CHI3L1 is characterized by high specificity and sensitivity, and its serological measurement offers a safe and non-invasive diagnostic approach.
