Description

Bergenin is a cytoprotective and antioxidative polyphenol present in various medicinal plants. It exhibits a wide spectrum of activities, including hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antitumor, antiviral, and antifungal properties.

In Vitro Study

Bergenin treatment at concentrations ranging from 7.5 to 30 µM for 24 hours reduces the viability of HeLa cervical cancer cells, with an IC50 value of 15 µM. Additionally, at the same concentrations and duration of treatment, Bergenin induces apoptosis in HeLa cervical cancer cells.

In Vivo Study

Male Swiss Webster C57BL/6 mice were pretreated with Bergenin (12.5-100 mg/kg; i.p.; single dose), resulting in a dose-dependent inhibition of acetic acid-induced writhing in mice.
