Description |
Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is a 140 kDa glycoprotein, consisting of disulfide-linked homologous dimers, and is a member of the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) family within the superfamily of growth and differentiation factors. In males, AMH is secreted by immature Sertoli cells in the testes, while in females, it is produced by granulosa cells of preantral and small antral follicles in the ovaries. AMH plays a crucial role in the regression of Müllerian ducts during development. Importantly, AMH is widely regarded as one of the most reliable biomarkers for evaluating ovarian reserve function.
